Joyous Christmas Tags

Christmas season is now officially upon us and we are in the fray of getting those precious gifts ready and packaged up nicely for those we love.  Every package deserves a handmade gift tag!

These adorable tags are made using the Joyous Christmas Tags stamp set and the coordinating oval Designer Frames embossing folder (123130).  The Raspberry Ripple Stitched Ribbon adds a little color.  Even though my photography is not great , Rudolf has a sparkly nose - just a dot of Dazzling Details Glitter glue in Cherry Cobbler did the trick, and Rhinestone Basic Jewels add some sparkle.

Stamps:  Joyous Celebrations (128066[W]; 128069[C] Holiday Catalog 2012), Pennant Parade (122740[W]; 122742[C])
Ink:  Raspberry Ripple, Garden Green, Soft Suede
Paper:  Raspberry Ripple, Garden Green, Whisper White

Silver Star Tree

Nothing says "Christmas" like a pretty Christmas tree.  This single Star Tree stamp from the 2012-2013 Stampin' Up! Catalog sets the stage for this clean and simple Christmas Card.

This elegant, yet simple card is the kind you could make several of without spending too much time.  The tree is embossed in Silver Embossing Powder, then sponged with Garden Green.  I used an eye shadow applicator with the sponge on the end (like the kind you get at Saphora to sample their makeup).  That way I had good control at the edges.

The stars are two sizes, the smaller from the Pennant Parade set, the larger from the Scentsational Season Set, and inked with the new Illuminate Glimmer Watermark Stampin' Pad (p. 23 in the Holiday Mini, in case you missed it).

Stamps:  Star Tree (126784), More Merry Messages (126400[W]; 126402[C]), Scentsational Season (121026[W], 121190[C]), Pennant Parade (122740[W]; 122742[C])
Ink:  VersaMark, Garden Green, Illuminate Glimmer Watermark Pad
Paper:  Garden Green, Whisper White, Brushed Silver (100712)
Accessories:  Silver Embossing Powder (109131)
Tools:  Heat Tool (129053)

Scentsational Tags

I love making tags.  They don't take much time, yet they are a like a spectacular mini card front, and  add that unique touch to your gift giving.

With the Big Shot as your companion, these tags are a breeze.  Just cut out the size of back you want from the Labels Collection Framelits Dies, pierce every-other-hole around the edge using the Paper-Piercing guide, then stitch around just like when you were a kid sewing laces in your sewing cards.  You are now ready for the fun Christmas shapes, which are also cut from framelits - this time from the Holiday Collection.  Stamp first, then line up and cut.  I used a couple dimensionals to the back of my gingerbread boy and tree.

If you are like me and love a good deal, then buy the stamp set and coordinating framelits in a money saving bundle!  Thank you Stampin' Up!

Stamps:  Sentsational Season (121026[W]; 121190[C] or bundled with Holiday Collection Framelits 129945[W]; 129945[C])
Ink:  Wild Wasabi, Daffodil Delight, Soft Suede
Paper:  Cherry Cobbler, Wild Wasabi, Whisper White
Accessories:  Cherry Cobbler Baker's Twine (123125), Whisper White Baker's Twine (124262)
Tools:  Labels Collection Framelits (125598), Holiday Collection Framelits (127814 or bundled with coordinating stamp set 129945[W]; 129945[C]), Festive Paper-Piercing Pack (127857), Paper-Piercing Tool (126189), Stampin'Pierce Mat (126199), Big Shot (113439), needle, 1/8" hole punch

Very Merry Ornament - Mojo261

Bringing on a little Mojo Monday this week.  The design is perfect for showcasing an ornament from the Ornament Keepsakes stamp set.

The Glimmer Paper is cut from the 3-1/2" Circle Die with my trusty Big Shot.  The ornament set has its matching set of Framelits Dies.  Look closely at the ornament, and you might see the tiny pearls across the center design of the ornament, and I also created a little shimmer with the Smooch Spritzer.

If you haven't yet taken advantage of this Ornament Keepsakes Bundle, don't miss the special going on in the month of October.

Stamps:  Ornament Keepsakes (Holiday Mini), More Merry Messages (126400[W]; 126402[C])

Gently Falling

It must be fall, it is September after all, but the weather says it's still SUMMER!  Love the warm days (and cooler nights).

I had various colors of card stock on my table from projects I was cutting for my classes.  These three colors happened to get stacked together, and I thought, wow, these look great together!  Soft Suede, More Mustard and Baja Breeze.  I added in a little Crumb Cake too for good measure.

Don't let this stamp set intimidate you.  Even though it is a two-step set, the clear mount stamps allow you to "eyeball" the outline (I stamped the inside or color first, then the outline second).  The style of the stamp gives you a little wiggle room and doesn't demand perfection, so close is good enough.  If you want more perfection, then you can always use the stamp-a-ma-jig.

I embossed the background and used a dauber to give it that wonderful aged look.  The new Designer Ribbon Slides featured in the Holiday Mini Catalog are a fun little adornment to my fall card.

Stamps:  Gently Falling (123802 [W]; 123804 [C]), En Frances (109521), Teeny Tiny Wishes (115370 [W]; 127802 [C])
Ink:  Soft Suede, Crumb Cake, More Mustard, Baja Breeze
Paper:  Soft Suede, More Mustard, Baja Breeze, Very Vanilla
Accessories:  Designer Ribbon Slides (127834 Holiday Mini), Soft Suede 3/8" Taffeta Ribbon (122967)
Tools:  Square Lattice Embossing Folder (119976), Word Window Punch (119857), Sponge Duabers (102892)

Wacky Wishes - PP113

A clean and simple banner project, a challenge hosted by the Paper Players, is the inspiration for today's card.  Banners are all the rage these days in all shapes and sizes.  Mine are petite, but the bright colors announce a big birthday celebration going on.

The finished little banners measure 1-1/2" from the front, but first I cut 2" x 3/4" strips, cut the "V" with a corner punch, ran them through the Polka Dot Embossing Folder, then scored them at 1-1/2" so I could fold the top over the Baker's Twine and glue it.  The cupcake is from the Itty Bitty Bits set and punched out with the circle from the Itty Bitty Punch Pack.  Dimensionals were used on the banner and the cupcake.

The bottom corners each have some decorative paper piercing to add a little detail.  The new Paper Piercing Pack Essentials is a great tool for this.

Stamps:  Wacky Wishes (126410[W];126412[C]), Itty Bitty Bits (117056[W]; 120060[C])
Ink:  Rich Razzleberry, Real Red, Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight, Marina Mist
Paper:  Rich Razzleberry, Real Red, Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight, Marina Mist, Whisper White
Accessories:  White Baker's Twine (124262), Dimensionals (104430)
Tools:  Polka Dot Embossing Folder (117335), Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack (118309), Essentials Paper-Piercing Pack (126187), Paper-Piercing Tool (126189), Stampin' Pierce Mat (126199), 1-1/4" Corner Punch (119865)

Gingerbread Candy Wrapper

A fun way to give a little treat or a small gift for Christmas is to wrap it up in this sweet little Candy Wrapper.  I think it would also make some cute homemade tree ornaments made up in custom colors of your choice.

The new Holiday Mini Catalog offers some fun new shapes for cutting matching stamped images.  All it takes is a few cranks of the Big Shot and you end up with a perfectly cut out image.  Easy!  You can get the bundle which includes this stamp set & coordinating Framelits for $36.95 [W]; $32.95[C].

The "frosting" trim is cut from the Tasteful Trims XL Die.

I had been curious about this Candy Wrapper Die, looking longingly at it in the catalog and wondering if it would behave when I went to close the ends.  Enough wondering.  The trick is to fold all the score lines, adhere the long side and flatten, fold the triangular score lines on the ends, then when you twist and push in with thumb and 3 fingers grasping the end, it just works.  There are several utube videos out there that show how to do this.

I always use Sticky Strip to close a 3D item, so I won't have to worry about it popping open randomly.  That Sticky Strip lives up to its name!

Stamps:  Scentsational Season (121026[W]; 121190[C])
Ink:  Soft Suede
Paper:  Baja Breeze, Real Red, Whisper White
Accessories:  Island Indigo Twine (125575), Real Red 1/8" Taffeta Ribbon (119251), Dimensionals
Tools:  Framelits Dies Holiday Collection (127814), Candy Wrapper Bigz Die (120890), Tasteful Trim Bigz XL Die (120893), Sticky Strip (104294), Big Shot

A Birthday Hoot - PP110

This week the Paper Players has a sketch challenge going on.  I decided to ink up my stamps and play along.  Here is what I started with:

I wanted to make a masculine card for a fall birthday.  I am not as fond of fall colors as I am of spring and summer, in fashion or in general, but changing up your normal favorites gives a little spice to life.  You may even end up making a new favorite!

Featured here are the new Woodgrain Embossing Folder and Window Frames Collection Framelits Dies available in the Holiday Mini Catalog.  Also available is a nifty guide for poking an even outline of holes around each size of the collection.  My owl is sporting a tailored vest with silver "buttons".  Just perfect for my brother the professor.

Stamps:  French Foliage (120845[W]; 121166[C]), Teeny Tiny Wishes (115370[W]; 127802[C])
Ink:  Cajun Craze, More Mustard, Old Olive, Crumb Cake
Paper:  Early Espresso, Crumb Cake, More Mustard, Old Olive, Very Vanilla, Basic Black
Accessories:  Mini Brads (122941), Dimensionals (104430), staple
Tools:  Woodgrain Embossing Folder (127821), Window Frames Collection Framelits Dies (129021), Paper Piercing Tool (126189), Paper Piercing Pack (127857), Owl Builder Punch (118074)

Mixed Bunch of Daisies

Without meaning to I basically took August off of blogging.  That doesn't mean I have not been a busy bee doing all sorts of other projects.   I just finished creating a set of 4 wedding banners for a friend's daughter who is getting married early Sept., and also put on a huge, very fun Christmas In August workshop for my local friends.  I've been promised professional pictures of the wedding banners, so I will post those when I get them.  Can't wait!

It's back to school time for the kids and back to my computer now and then for a new post.  I made this card a few weeks back, but for those of us who hate to say goodbye to Summer, here it is:

I saw this idea for the flowerpot somewhere on the world wide web, but can't remember where...someone is smart and used the Labels Framelits (125598) and cut the top and bottom off.  Love it!  Then I used the Blossom Punch (125603) to punch out the flowers; two Whisper White flowers for each, then cut slits in the petals at each ridge to make it more frilly.  You only need to do the top flower, as the one under doesn't really show.  The leaves are punched from the Blossom Petals Builder Punch, and the flower center scallop is the new 1-1/4" Scallop Circle Punch shown in the Holiday Mini Catalog.

Stamps:  Mixed Bunch (125535[W]; 125537[C]), Kindness Matters (122900[W]; 122902[C])
Ink:  Daffodil Delight, Pool Party
Paper:  Naturals White, Whisper White, Sahara Sand, Lucky Limeade, Pool Party
Accessories:  Linen Thread (104199), Dimensionals (104430)
Tool:  Square Lattice Embossing Folder (119976), Labels Framelits (125598), Blossom Punch (125603), 1" Circle Punch (119868), 1-1/4" Scallop Circle Punch (127811), Blossom Petals Builder Punch (121808), Word Window Punch (119857)

Snowflake Soiree Wishes

Another sneak peek from the Stampin' Up! Holiday Mini Catalog for the Mojo Monday
Sketch Challenge.

I just LOVE snowflakes!  Maybe because where I grew up there was snow every year, but where I live now - not so much as a flake.  Whatever the reason, I had to include this new set of snowflakes for my Christmas collection.  The DSP (designer series paper) is pretty great too.  This paper is in the big catalog.  It coordinates with Cherry Cobbler and Gumball Green.

Stamps:  Snowflake Soiree (127922[W]; 127925[C] Holiday Mini), Joyous Celebrations (128066[W]; 128069[C] Holiday Mini)
Ink:  Cherry Cobbler, Gumball Green
Paper:  Gumball Green, Cherry Cobbler, Very Vanilla, DSP-Be of Good Cheer (126896)
Accessories:  Vintage Faceted Designer Buttons (127555), Cherry Cobbler Baker's Twine (123125), Basic Rhinestones (119246), Dimensionals (104430)

Watercolor Winter Greetings

Ready for a sneak peak from the Stampin' Up! Holiday mini catalog?  There are so many new stamps, accessories and tools, to get your creative juices flowing!  Many items are geared towards Fall, Halloween and of course Christmas.  I am thinking ahead to the Christmas season, so when I saw this two-step stamp set, I immediately had gold embossing come to mind.  The Stamp-a-ma-jig is the best for getting the outline stamps on straight.  Each poinsettia is cut out and then popped up with a Dimensional.  Tiny pearls adorn the center of each flower.

This card is all wrapped up for someone special with its Cherry Cobbler bow.  I just love Cherry Cobbler, Always Artichoke and Crumb Cake together.  The greeting is from More Merry Messages, and tiny pine cone finishes it off in style.

Stamps:  Watercolor Winter (129724[W]; 129727[C]), More Merry Messages (126400[W]; 126402[C])
Ink:  Cherry Cobbler, Always Artichoke, Soft Suede, Crumb Cake, VersaMark
Paper:  Cherry Cobbler, Always Artichoke, Crumb Cake, Very Vanilla

Vintage Postage Due

My daughter says this card looks like summer.  The color combination, the reminder of travels, it all brings summer days to mind.

This Postage Due stamp set and designer paper are included in the Fan Fair Product Suite in the 2012-13 Stampin' Up! Catalog.  It shows an array of coordinating items for scrap booking, card making or other projects.  Great for those who need a little help putting items and colors together.  It's right there listed for you on p. 107.

To get the ink coverage on the Very Vanilla card stock, I used a brayer inked with Crumb Cake.  After trial and error (I am just learning the brayer technique), I ended up with just a touch of the Riding Hood Red on the edges.  I sponged the flower with Island Indigo ink and daubed the edges of the stamps with Crumb Cake.

Stamps:  Postage Due (126395[W]; 126397[C])
Ink:  Stazon Black Ink, Riding Hood Red, Island Indigo, More Mustard, Crumb Cake
Paper:  Riding Hood Red, Island Indigo, Very Vanilla, Fan Fair DSP
Accessories:  Linen Thread (104199), Dimensionals (104430)
Tools:  Postage Stamp Punch (122344), Brayer (102395), Stamping Sponge (101610)

A Jolly Bingo Christmas

Christmas in July!  "Oh, no!" you say, because you don't want to even think about Christmas.  You don't want to hear Christmas music, or see Christmas stuff in the stores.  I'm with you there, but really, July/August is the perfect time to start planning for the big event.  I am the type of person that can think of a brilliant idea - for decoration, for gift giving - only too late to do it up right.  If you are like me, now is the time to start planning, so that you do have time to add your handmade touch.  The Stampin' Up! Holiday mini catalog will begin on August 1st this year (a month early) with fresh and fabulous ideas for fall all through Christmas and beyond.

The big Catalog also has some great stamp sets and accessories to choose from such as this Jolly Bingo Bits set (24 pieces!) that has a fun, playful feel to it.

This card was quite simple to make, and could easily be mass produced.  Because each small image is punched out, it would be a great one for kids to make.  Each circle is adhered with a dimensional which makes the card front pop.

Stamps:  Jolly Bingo Bits (120857 [W]; 121187), More Merry Messages (126400 [W]; 126402 [C])
Ink:  Real Red, Garden Green, Pretty In Pink
Paper:  Whisper White, Real Red

By The Seashore Notes

It's summer!  One of the best places to enjoy a summer day is by the seashore, but if you can't get to the beach, bring the beach to you!  I just adore this beachside stamp set.

Pool Party was the perfect shade to compliment the gold embossed images.  I dipped my "C" block in the ink pad and stamped it right on the Very Vanilla card stock for the water surrounding my ocean creatures.  Then I stamped with VersaMark and heat embossed with gold embossing powder.  The finished card size is 3 x 3.

Stamps:  By the Seashore (126530 [W]; 126832 [C])
Ink:  Pool Party, VersaMark

Midnight Muse Papillon Potpourri

The delicate wings of this butterfly from the new set Papillon Potpourri are like stained glass.  I used a blender pen here to add the lighter color to fill in the wings, then punched them out with the amazing new Elegant Butterfly Punch and adhered both with a dimensional.

Don't you just love all of the embossing folders available from Stampin' Up?  The one used here is the Fancy Fan Folder.  It has a delicate pattern that compliments the graceful butterflies.

Stamps:  Papillon Potpourri (123757 [W]; 123759[C]), Language of Friendship (122750 [W]; 122752])
Ink:  Midnight Muse, Bashful Blue

Elements Of Style - Mojo 247

I adore the little 3 x 3 love notes.  They are the perfect size to tuck in the ribbon on a wrapped present.  This week's Mojo Monday was "round or square", so I went with a love note.

The Night of Navy and Whisper White remind me of french toile.  I used Whisper White card stock cut out with the Scallop Rectangle Clearlits to stamp the roses, and the Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border Punch for the tiny scallops peeking out from behind the Sahara Sand embossed strip.  I sure do get a lot of milage out of that punch!

Stamps:  Elements of Style (118611[W]; 120045[C])

Paper:  Night of Navy, Sahara Sand, Whisper White
Accessories:  Dimensionals (104430), Rhinestones (119246)

Hello Baby

I wanted to share a cute card I made for someone special.  I don't make a lot of baby cards, so I don't have a lot of baby stamp sets.  This little stamp is in the retired hostess set Slice Of Life from the 2011 Occasions Mini, but a perfect alternative would be the onesie in the Baby Bundle Set on p. 61 of the current Stampin' Up! Catalog.

The embossed hearts are a sweet touch and repeat the little hearts on the rompers.  Each romper was stamped on colored card stock, cut out by hand and attached with dimensionals.  I used the Big Shot to cut out the scalloped border.  The Stamp-a-ma-jig is the tool to use when you need to get the words on straight.

Stamps:  Slice of Life (Retired), Teeny Tiny Wishes (115370[W]; 127802[C])
Ink:  Early Espresso
Paper:  So Saffron, Pool Party, Certainly Celery, Whisper White
Accessories:  5/8" Certainly Celery Ribbon (Retired), Subtles Designer Buttons, So Saffron (119745), White Baker's Twine (124262),Dimensionals (104430), Glue Dots (103683)

Pleasant Poppies, Clean & Simple

I love flowers; they are great for many occasions, and they allow for a wide variety of color combinations and designs.  One of the new stamps in the new Stampin' Up! Catalog that really jumped out at me was Pleasant Poppies - I just had to have it.  For this card, I left the poppies as an outline, but I can't wait to try watercolor.  Pleasant Poppies is one large stamp available in wood or clear mount (use on block F).

The idea for this card came from the Catalog.  The Catalog is filled with so many great ideas, you can't help but be inspired and ready to create!

Stamps:  Pleasant Poppies (126480[W]; 129499[C]), Teeny Tiny Wishes (115370[W]; 127802[C])

Pinwheel Tag

Pinwheels bring back fond childhood memories of carefree summer days.  Pinwheels are just FUN.  The cover of a recent Stampin' Success Magazine, (a magazine for Stampin' Up! Demonstrators), was loaded with pinwheels of all sizes, which gave me the inspiration for this tag.  I would have made a card, but it's not easy to fit a pinwheel into an envelope without smooshing it.   Now a tag, that makes perfect sense.

The tag base is 4-1/4" x 2-7/8".  To make the pinwheel, I cut a 2-1/2" square from the Floral District DSP, then cut from corner to corner leaving about 1/2" uncut in the middle.  Do both diagonals.  Bring the cut corner up to the center and snail to hold until the brad can be placed in the center to hold it all together.  Adhere to the tag base with a dimensional at the tip of the toothpick.

Stamps:  It's Your Day (retired).
Ink:  Rich Razzleberry
Paper:  Rich Razzleberry, Baja Breeze, Whisper White, Floral District DSP (126919)
Accessories:  Daffodil Delight 1/4" Stitched Grosgrain Ribbon (126872), Brights Brads (119740), Dimensionals (104430), Toothpick
Tools:  Scallop Trim Border Punch (118402), Boho Blossoms Punch (119858), Paper Piercing Tool (126189), Corner Punch (119871), 1/2" Circle Punch (119869), Hole Punch

Pure Gumption - A Grad Card

It's an exciting time of year for many a graduate.  Congratulations to all of you!

I was so happy to find a graduation stamp set in the new catalog.  I have been waiting and waiting for one with words.  Pure Gumption fills the bill with 4 sayings and this darling little cap.  This card came together quick and easy with the help of my Houndstooth Embossing Folder for texture and my 2 (retired) star punches.  Unfortunately, Stampin' Up! does not currently have a star punch or die, so I had to retrieve my trusty retired ones.

Stamps:  Pure Gumption (126315[W]; 126317[C])
Ink:  Basic Black
Paper:  Daffodil Delight, Basic Black, Whisper White, Silver Glimmer Paper (124005)
Accessories:  Mini Brads (122941), Dimensionals (104430)
Tools:  Houndstooth Embossing Folder (123134), Large & Small Star Punches

This second one is a graduation card I made last year, before I started my blog.  I got the basic idea for this from someone else (I'm sorry, but I don't remember who), but turned out so cute, I thought it was worth sharing.

I used the owl punch, and the scallop circle punch for the wings.  The hat was hand cut.  It took some time to get him altogether, but so smart looking!

Vintage Papaya Collage

I hope you are as excited as I am for the new Stampin' Up! catalog, which begins today!  It is always fun to refresh your stampin' supplies with new and innovative stamps, tools and colors.

One beautiful new set is Papaya Collage, which works beautifully with the vintage style.

I have used 2 of the new In Colors here as well; Raspberry Ripple & Gumball Green.  I stamped off with the green leaflet, meaning I stamped with a freshly inked stamp, then stamped again without re-inking to get the dark, light and very light images.  I like using the edge of my scissors to rough up the edges before "daubing" on the Soft Suede, as you can see on the Very Vanilla frame.  I used my fingers on the embossed Raspberry Ripple to get the worn look.  There is a little bit of fussy cutting on the bird and rose, but not too hard.

Stamps:  Papaya Collage (126610 [W]; 126612[C]), Tiny Tags (118091[W]; 118592[C]), En Francais (109521)
Paper:  Crumb Cake, Raspberry Ripple, Very Vanilla
Ink:  Soft Suede, Raspberry Ripple, Gumball Green, Baja Breeze
Accessories:  Linen Thread (104199), Dimensionals (104430)
Tools:  Jewelry Tag Punch (117190), 1/16" Circle Punch (101227), 3/16" Corner Punch (119871), Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder (120175), Sponge Dauber (102892)

Nature Walk - Mojo242

It's been awhile since I've done a Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge, but I managed to get to it this week (and it's only Wednesday!)

I've dusted off my Nature Walk stamp set for this sketch.  It really is a beautiful set; one of my favorites.      The newsprint has a little soft suede daubed around the edges to make it look aged as well as the "just for you" so that it stands out a little more.  I attached the birdcage and the bee with dimensionals.

Stamps:  Nature Walk (121925 [W]; 121997 [C]), Teeny Tiny Wishes (115370 [W]; 127802 [C])
Ink:  Soft Suede, Wild Wasabi & Perfect Plum Stampin' Write Markers
Paper:  Perfect Plum, Elegant Eggplant, Wild Wasabi, Soft Suede, Very Vanilla, First Edition DSP (121878)
Accessories:  Chantilly 1/2" Crochet Trim
Tools:  Scallop Edge Border Punch (119882), 1-1/4" Circle Punch (119861), 1-3/8" Circle Punch (119860), Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder (120175)

Palm Tree Masculine Birthday Card

Today's card features the retiring stamp set Plant Hope, which includes this wonderful palm tree.  I have found this is a very versatile set.  Besides masculine cards, I have used the pine trees in this set for making wedding cards for a rustic, mountain lodge wedding or they could be used in a winter/Christmas scene as well. (The pine trees I mean; the palm tree not so much).

A masculine card usually has clean and simple lines with little in the way of embellishments.  I added texture and interest with the embossing folder and brad.  The sponged on ink adds just enough color.  To get the line between sand and sky, I ripped a piece of card stock to use as a guide.  Cover the area you don't want inked and sponge the exposed area.

Stamps:  Plant Hope (117042 [W]; 120540 [C]), Party This Way (118744[W]; 120609 [C])
Ink:  Always Artichoke, Marina Mist, Crumb Cake
Paper:  Soft Suede, Crumb Cake, Very Vanilla
Accessories:  Metallic Brads (119741)
Tools:  Square Lattice Embossing Folder (119976)

Betsy's Blossoms For You

The new Stampin' Up! Catalog is nearly here!  How about a little peek at a fun new stamp set, Betsy's Blossoms, and a couple of the new In Colors?

The yellow/gold is called Summer Starfruit and the green is called Gumball Green.  What do you think?  The blue was introduced in last year's collection of In Colors - Island Indigo.  I think it goes quite well with the Starfruit.

These new items will be available for purchase on June 1st.  Shop HERE 24/7 in my online store.

Stamps:  Betsy's Blossoms (126004[W]; 126006[C]), Sentiment from Tea Shoppe (125545[W]; 125547[C])
Ink:  Summer Starfruit, Gumball Green, Island Indigo
Paper:  Crumb Cake, Island Indigo, Gumball Green, Very Vanilla
Accessories:  3/8" Very Vanilla Taffeta Ribbon (retired), Designer Printed Brads (122940)
Tools:  Adorning Accents Edgelits (125595), Adorning Accents Embossing Folders (125601), Crop-a-dile

Build A Flower in Pool Party

The inspiration for this flower came from the Stampin' Success Magazine sent to all Stampin' Up  demonstrators.  Just another great perk!  This flower reminds me of a dahlia.  Although I made this into a Mother's Day card, this one would be fabulous for many other sentiments we might want to use.  So sorry I didn't get to posting this one before the big day, but that's just how it goes sometimes.

The petals are made from the Blossom Petals Builder Punch (121808), the center is stamped in Soft Suede using a flower center from the Mixed Bunch stamp set. (I am so happy this set is in the new catalog!)  Yes, I did cut this out by hand, but the 1" circle punch does work.  To assemble the flower, I punched a 1-3/8" circle and then built the bottom layer with 8 petals and another 8 for the top layer.  I used a little all purpose glue to make everything stay put.

Stamps:  Mixed Bunch (125535[W]; 125537[C]), Sentiment from Something To Celebrate (retired Hostess Set)
Ink:  Soft Suede, Pool Party
Paper:  Pool Party, Soft Suede, Whisper White, So Saffron DSP (this strip is from a retired package, but other DSP is available)
Accessories:  Soft Suede 3/8" Taffeta Ribbon (122967), Multipurpose Liquid Glue (110755), Dimensionals (104430)
Tools:  Blossom Petals Builder Punch (121808), 1-3/8" Circle Punch (119860), Scallop Trim Border Punch (118402), Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder (117335)

Don't let this flower intimidate you!  It was actually quite simple and fun to make.

Springtime Flower Fest

I feel like I haven't gotten enough of the Flower Fest stamp set, and it's already retiring!  Today I am featuring it one more time...

Peach Parfait is another great color from the 2010-2012 In Color collection that will be retiring.  It is a wonderful soft orange that goes well with many other colors.  The Butterfly Punch, the 5-Petal Flower Punch and the Eyelet Border Punch are also on the retiring list.  The sentiment from You're Cherished is retiring as well.

This is a quick and easy card to make.  Just stamp and punch, run the Whisper White c.s. through the Big Shot in the embossing folder,  add some ribbon, arrange the flowers and butterfly (I added a body" of baker's twine to the butterfly) and stick on a few pearls.  Wa-la!  A fun and colorful card!

Stamps:  Flower Fest (122278[W]; 122280[C]), You're Cherished (123684)
Ink:  Pool Party, Peach Parfait, Concord Crush, Daffodil Delight
Paper:  Daffodil Delight, Peach Parfait, Pool Party, Wisteria Wonder, Whisper White
Accessories:  3/8" Ruffled Ribbon (122975), Baker's Twine (124262), Basic Pearls (119247)
Tools:  2-3/8" Scallop Circle Punch (118874), Butterfly Punch (119848), Fancy Flower Punch (118073), 5-Petal Flower Punch (119880), Large Oval Punch (119855), Scallop Oval Punch (119856), Eyelet Border Punch (119853), Square Lattice Embossing Folder (119976)

Quilted Memories

The retired lists have been posted.  It is bittersweet as we say goodbye to some favorite items and at the same time look forward to new and exciting new stamp sets and accessories sure to be found in the new Stampin' Up! Catalog.

In this card, I have used Designer Series Paper from Sale-a-bration (just retired), Poppy Parade Card Stock & Ink, the Blossom Bouquet Triple Layer Punch and a Filigree Brad, which are all retiring at the end of May.

The sketch idea was from a past Mojo Monday.  I didn't get a chance to get to it on time, but thought it was a fun quilt pattern.  My grandmothers were both big quilters, so the "Memories" sentiment seemed the perfect touch to finish my card.  To make the leaves, I used the Blossom Petals Builder Punch and scored a line down the center with the Simply Scored scoring tool.  You gotta love the quality of Stampin' Up! card stock.  It's so easy to shape with your fingers.  The flower and leaves are curled to make more a 3-dimensional look.

Stamps:  Loving Thoughts (125843[W]; 125845[C] Occasions Mini, but will carry over to the new catalog!)
Ink:  Poppy Parade
Paper:  Naturals Ivory, Pool Party, Poppy Parade, Lucky Limeade
Accessories:  Filigree Brads (112577)
Tools:  Fancy Flower Punch (118073), Blossom Bouquet Triple Layer Punch (122464), Blossom Petals Builder Punch (121808), Postage Stamp Punch (122344), Simply Scored (122334 - still available).

For Mom

Stampin' Up! has posted the lists of retiring stamps sets and accessories early this year!  Click on the picture above (and scroll down) to find the lists.   Get them before their gone!

Featured below is a stamp set that will be retiring on May 31st.  I like this set, because it has nice words for the inside of your card.  They work for both Mother's day or Father's Day, as well as birthday or just because.  I am hoping for more word sets in the new 2012-13 catalog that are versatile.  (I am pretty picky when it comes to words).

Need a little something to hold a pair of earrings, a bracelet or some yummy chocolates?  Add a matching Petite Purse with a treasure inside!  I showed this purse in a recent post using the same package of DSP (hostess option in the current catalog)  Love this paper!  In this purse, I have added a scallop on the edge of the flap.  So cute!

To make the flower, I used two flowers punched from the Fancy Flower Punch (118073) in Melon Mambo, one full flower in Concord Crush and one inside flower in Bashful Blue, both from the Blossom Bouquet Triple Layer Punch (122464), which is also retiring, and a Lucky Limeade Designer Printed Brad from the In Color pack (122940).  I worked each flower between my fingers to break down the fibers and shape the petals, then used the paper piercing tool to poke the hole for the brad.  It is adhered to the card with a dimensional.

Stamps:  Messages For Mom (117016 [W]; 118580 [C])
Ink:  Concord Crush
Paper:  Bashful Blue, Melon Mambo, Concord Crush, Cheerful Treat DSP (hostess selection)
Accessories:  Metallic Brads (119741), In Color Designer Printed Brads (122940), Bashful Blue 3/8" Taffeta Ribbon (Retired, 5/8" Satin on retiring accessories list!), Dimensionals (104430)
Tools:  Large Tag (119876) & Ex-Large Tag (119866) Punches, Fancy Flower Punch (118073), Blossom Bouquet Triple Layer Punch (122464), Paper Piercing Tool (116631) & Mat Pack (105826)

Mixed Bunch in Pinks or Blues...

I got the idea of heat embossing with white embossing powder using this stamp set in the Stampin' Success Magazine.  I love the look.   I made this clean and simple card first in the blues and then thought it would be great in pinks as well.  You decide which you like better.

This stamp set, Mixed Bunch, and punch, Blossom Punch, are in the Occasions Mini Catalog, soon to be gone (unless it ends up in the new catalog that will come out on June 1st.  That's what I am hoping for!)  The words on the Blues card is from Friendly Phrases, and the words on the Pinks card came from a retired set.

Stamps:  Mixed Bunch (125535[W]; 125537[C]), Friendly Phrases (126149[W]; 126151[C])
Ink:  Whisper White Craft Ink, Not Quite Navy or Melon Mambo
Paper: Pool Party & Not Quite Navy or Regal Rose & Melon Mambo, Whisper White, Certainly Celery, Certainly Celery from the Subtles Pack of DSP
Accessories:  5/8" Certainly Celery Grograin Ribbon (Retired, but 5/8" Satin is available 117288), White Embossing Powder (109132), Basic Pearls (119247), Dimensionals (104403)
Tools:  Blossom Punch (125603), 3/4" Circle Punch (119873)
