Gently Falling

It must be fall, it is September after all, but the weather says it's still SUMMER!  Love the warm days (and cooler nights).

I had various colors of card stock on my table from projects I was cutting for my classes.  These three colors happened to get stacked together, and I thought, wow, these look great together!  Soft Suede, More Mustard and Baja Breeze.  I added in a little Crumb Cake too for good measure.

Don't let this stamp set intimidate you.  Even though it is a two-step set, the clear mount stamps allow you to "eyeball" the outline (I stamped the inside or color first, then the outline second).  The style of the stamp gives you a little wiggle room and doesn't demand perfection, so close is good enough.  If you want more perfection, then you can always use the stamp-a-ma-jig.

I embossed the background and used a dauber to give it that wonderful aged look.  The new Designer Ribbon Slides featured in the Holiday Mini Catalog are a fun little adornment to my fall card.

Wacky Wishes - PP113

A clean and simple banner project, a challenge hosted by the Paper Players, is the inspiration for today's card.  Banners are all the rage these days in all shapes and sizes.  Mine are petite, but the bright colors announce a big birthday celebration going on.

The finished little banners measure 1-1/2" from the front, but first I cut 2" x 3/4" strips, cut the "V" with a corner punch, ran them through the Polka Dot Embossing Folder, then scored them at 1-1/2" so I could fold the top over the Baker's Twine and glue it.  The cupcake is from the Itty Bitty Bits set and punched out with the circle from the Itty Bitty Punch Pack.  Dimensionals were used on the banner and the cupcake.

The bottom corners each have some decorative paper piercing to add a little detail.  The new Paper Piercing Pack Essentials is a great tool for this.

Gingerbread Candy Wrapper

A fun way to give a little treat or a small gift for Christmas is to wrap it up in this sweet little Candy Wrapper.  I think it would also make some cute homemade tree ornaments made up in custom colors of your choice.

The new Holiday Mini Catalog offers some fun new shapes for cutting matching stamped images.  All it takes is a few cranks of the Big Shot and you end up with a perfectly cut out image.  Easy!  You can get the bundle which includes this stamp set & coordinating Framelits for $36.95 [W]; $32.95[C].

The "frosting" trim is cut from the Tasteful Trims XL Die.

I had been curious about this Candy Wrapper Die, looking longingly at it in the catalog and wondering if it would behave when I went to close the ends.  Enough wondering.  The trick is to fold all the score lines, adhere the long side and flatten, fold the triangular score lines on the ends, then when you twist and push in with thumb and 3 fingers grasping the end, it just works.  There are several utube videos out there that show how to do this.

I always use Sticky Strip to close a 3D item, so I won't have to worry about it popping open randomly.  That Sticky Strip lives up to its name!

Stamps:  Scentsational Season (121026[W]; 121190[C])
Ink:  Soft Suede
Paper:  Baja Breeze, Real Red, Whisper White
Accessories:  Island Indigo Twine (125575), Real Red 1/8" Taffeta Ribbon (119251), Dimensionals
