Joy to the World

Don't you just love a good challenge?  The Paper Players have a Musical Theme Challenge going on that sounded like fun.  My many years of voice lessons, piano lessons, and even a little clarinet have instilled in me a love for music.  This theme actually was the push I needed to create a card I already had dancing around in my head.  I ended up making two cards, one vintage, and one clean and simple.

The man in brown brought me some new goodies last week. The new embossing folder, Snow Burst, and the 3/8" Cherry Cobbler Quilted Satin Ribbon were among them.  These can both be found in the Holiday Mini Catalog, along with this stamp set.  See the shimmer that glistens all over the card from the Smooch Spritz I used?  Ooh yaah!

Stamps:  The Sounding Joy (121967 [W]; 121979 [C] ), Music Notes Wheel (120327)
Ink:  Cherry Cobbler, Sahara Sand, Early Espresso, Soft Suede
Paper:  Cherry Cobbler, Very Vanilla
Accessories:  3/8" Cherry Cobbler Quilted Satin Ribbon (124105), Vanilla Shimmer Smooch Spritz (118772), Basic Pearls (119247), Sponge Dauber (102892)
Tools: Snow Burst Embossing Folder (124096), Big Shot

Make it a great day and create something fun!

  1. Renae, Don't you love the man in brown? I love your card. I couldn't see all the dimension and layers in the first photo but the second revealed all the layers of stamps, sparkle and dimension. I really like the Joy sentiment stamped over the star of text. Such a great card - an Ode to Joy:) ( one of my favorites) Thank you for playing along with The Paper Players.

  2. Absolutely beautiful Renae! I love your layout and the vintage sponging on the edges is a beautiful touch! The smooch spritz just sends it over the top! So glad you joined us at The Paper Players this week!

  3. Gorgeous, Ranae! I love both versions. The Smooch and the pearls are the perfect touch! Thanks for playing with The Paper Players this week!

  4. Love them both, but my eye keeps going back for more of the vintage card. The sponged edges really add a nice touch. Thanks so much for joining The Paper Players this week.

  5. Gorgeous, both of them! I like the more vintage version, too, and I think this is just one of the nicest sets that SU has right now! Thanks so much for playing with the Paper Players and my musical challenge this week!

  6. Gorgeous cards - so hard to choose between either one since they are both gorgeous. This was the first set I bought when SU sent demos the catalogs as I fell in love with the elegance of this set. It will be a favorite of mine for years to come, I'm sure. You truly used this set to its fullest advantage here, both cards are gorgeous!

  7. What a gorgeous card! Your focal image is so shimmery sweet. I think the music notes were the perfect addition to this card. Glad we inspired you to make it ;) Thanks so much for joining us this week at the Paper Players!
