Raining Flowers in Razzleberry

Inspiration for creativity is everywhere!  This card was inspired by a card made by Chat Wszelaki.  Mine turned out quite different, but it got me started.

I used the new Fancy Fan Letterpress Plate inked in VersaMark and run through the Big Shot to get the background.  There was a little cutting involved for the flowers,  but with my Stampin' Up! Paper Snips it's a breeze.  The large flower is cut out and adhered with snail, then the smaller flower was stamped 3 times and the 3 larger tiers of petals are each cut out and layered with dimensionals.  Four layers total in the flower.  I didn't take a side view photo, but it does add visual interest with the layers each raised.

Stamps:   Raining Flowers (122765 [W]; 122767 [C]), Best Friends Forever (122805 [W]; 122807 [C]), Perfect Words (122407 [W]; 122472 [C])
Ink:  VersaMark, Rich Razzleberry, Lucky Limeade
Paper:  Rich Razzleberry, Lucky Limeade, Whisper White

Kindness Matters - PPA108

This week's challenge at Pals Paper Arts is to create a card using this picture as inspiration.  The challenge was to "soften the edges".

Here is what I dreamed up:

Challenges are a good way to stretch yourself and maybe create something you wouldn't have thought of.  I adore this new little stamp set "Kindness Matters".  It is only $8.95 in clear mount and $11.95 in wood mount.

I used the Circle Scissor Plus cutting tool to cut a 3-1/2" circle out of Cajun Craze card stock, and the sweet little butterflies are stamped right onto the colored card stock with Early Espresso Ink and cut out by hand.  Tip:  I always use a glue dot to attach little flowers or bows.  Don't want those little guys falling off!

Stamps:  Kindness Matters (122900[W]; 122902[C])
Ink:  Cajun Craze, Early Espresso
Paper:  Early Espresso, Sahara Sand, Cajun Craze, Baja Breeze, Whisper White
Accessories:  Basic Pearls (119247), Dimensionals (104430), Glue Dots (103683)
Tools:  1-1/4" Square Punch (119865), Boho Blossoms Punch (119858), 3/16" Corner Punch (119871), Vintage Wallpaper (120175) & Perfect Polka Dot (117335) Embossing Folders, Circle Scissor Plus (112530).

HSS Banner Bash Theme Challenge #81

Banners are all the rage lately.  If you haven't seen Stampin' Up!'s new Pennant Parade stamp set and coordinating punch, you have got to take a look!  It makes putting a mini banner together a snap.

My card also showcases 4 of the 5 new In Colors from the 2011-2012 Idea Book & Catalog.  Stampin' Up! has a wonderful color pallet and a variety of accessories that color coordinate, so it's easy to put together a card, scrapbook page or 3-D item such as a decorated box or treat bag.

Notice the cross-stitch on the Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border; my favorite way to use this punch!  I just sewed up one side diagonally and came back down the other.  For the white scallop trim, I punched another strip, cut it in half length-wise and adhered it to either side of the Island Indigo piece.  I makes a cute little trim peeking out.

Stamps:  Pennant Parade (122740 [W]; 122742 [C]), Create a Cupcake (121915 [W]; 121982 [C]), Itty Bitty Bits (117056 [W]; 120060 [C]), Party This Way (118744 [W]; 120609 [C])
Ink:  Calypso Coral, Island Indigo, Wisteria Wonder
Paper:  Pool Party, Calypso Coral, Island Indigo, Wisteria Wonder, Whisper White
Accessories:  White Baker's Twine (124262), Dimensionals (104430)
Tools:  Petite Pennants Builder Punch (122361), Cupcake Builder Punch (121807), Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack, 1/2" Circle Punch (119873), Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border Punch (119275), Embroidery needle.

Sail Away Two Ways

Now and then you just need a masculine card.  I couldn't decide which way I liked best, so I made one of each.

Love this stamp!  I can almost smell the sea breeze. The sponging on this card turned out just like you might see the fog as it is beginning to lift along the coast on a summer day.  The smaller square punch is a brand new addition to the line-up of Stampin' Up! punches, and will be available on September 1st in the new Holiday Mini.

The sail boat is stamped on Very Vanilla card stock cut to 3-3/8" x 2-7/8".  The Naturals Ivory background is run through the big shot with the square lattice embossing folder.  "Happy Birthday" is from a retired set.  This is adhered with a dimensional.

Stamps:  Sail Away (123013; $9.95), The Open Sea (123030 [W] $26.95; 123032 [C] $18.95)
*Both stamp sets are from the Summer Mini and will only be available until Aug. 31st
Ink:  Early Espresso, Not Quite Navy, Marina Mist
Paper:  Not Quite Navy, Naturals Ivory, Riding Hood Red, Very Vanilla
Accessories:  1-1/4" Striped Grosgrain Ribbon
Tools:  Square Lattice Embossing Folder (119976), Postage Stamp Punch (122344), 1" Square Punch (124094), Dimensionals (104430), Stamping Sponges (101610)

PPA107 Homegrown

This weeks Pals Paper Arts challenge is based on this sketch:

Here is my interpretation:

I love this cute little set, but haven't used it much.  I guess it came to mind since my garden is really going crazy producing tomatoes (and zucchini!) right now.  A friend of mine is growing artichokes and says they are easy to grow...maybe next year.

Stamps:  Homegrown (116986 [W]; 120486 [C])
Ink:  Always Artichoke (of course!), Cherry Cobbler, Soft Suede, VersaMark
Paper:  More Mustard, Always Artichoke, Soft Suede, Very Vanilla
Accessories:  Linen Thread (104199), Metallic Brads (119741)
Tools:  1-1/4" Square Punch (119865), 1-3/8" Square Punch (119877), Scallop Edge Border Punch (119882), Paper Piercing tool (116631)

Mojo Monday 204 - Fall Wreath Thanks So Much

This week's Mojo Monday sketch...

For this week's challenge, I'm showing a sneak peek of the new hostess set and the new Spice Cake DSP (designer series paper) from the Holiday Mini Catalog coming out September 1st.  There are lots of fun new goodies in the Holiday Mini.

If you didn't happen to purchase the photo corner punch (as pictured in the sketch) before it retired, I came up with my own version that works great!  I punched out a square with the 1-1/4 punch and then slipped one corner into the long side of the Decorative Label Punch.  I did the same with the DSP, only this time a little deeper to make it just a tad smaller.

Stamps:  Warmest of Wishes (Holiday Mini Hostess Set), Tiny Tags (118091 [W]; 118592 [C])
Ink:  Soft Suede, More Mustard, Pear Pizzazz, River Rock
Paper:  Naturals Ivory, Soft Suede, More Mustard, Pear Pizzazz, Very Vanilla, Spice Cake DSP (Holiday Mini 124003)
Accessories:  Soft Suede 3/8" Taffeta Ribbon, Dimensionals
Tools:  1-1/4 Square Punch (119865), Decorative Label Punch (120907), 2-3/8" Scallop Circle Punch (118874), 1" Circle Punch (119868), Jewelry Tag Punch (117190)

Visit my on-line store HERE to purchase current Stampin' Up! merchandise.  You can also check out the special on Designer Series Paper.  Buy 3, Get 1 Free!  We all love getting something for free, so if you have been thinking about buying some great coordinating, patterned 12 x 12 paper, don't miss out on this special.

Mojo Monday 203 - Magnificent Vintage

I am finally getting around to posting my Mojo Monday project.

Here is the sketch for this week:

And here is my interpretation:

I love the vintage look.  For the background, I used the new Fancy Fan Letterpress Plate inked in Blushing Bride and ran it through the Big Shot.  It came through with a subtle embossing that gives it a slight texture as well as the color on color.  The flower has four layers cut from the Fancy Flower Punch.  Two from the Designer Series Paper (DSP) and then one flower from Blushing Bride peeled apart to make 2 flowers.  This makes the paper thin and easier to crumple.  Tip:  Place the flower between your thumb and a bone folder and drag it along the flower from the center out, turning each time, to break down the fibers in the card stock.  Then, when you see the edges coming apart, gently peel the two sides apart.  Crumple each flower piece, smooth back out, and daube with Crumb Cake ink before assembling the flower.

Stamps:  Best Friends Forever (122805[W]; 122807[C]), Perfect Words (hostess set)
Ink:  Blushing Bride, Crumb Cake
Paper:  Crumb Cake, Blushing Bride, Very Vanilla, First Edition Specialty DSP (121878 - 24 double sided sheets for $12.95)
Accessories:  Chantilly 1/2" Crochet Trim (118480), Antique Brads (117273)
Tools:  Fancy Flower Punch (118073), Fancy Fan Letterpress Plate (123129), Big Shot, Decorative Label Punch (120907), Eyelet Border Punch (119853), Paper Piercing Tool (116631), Sponge Daubers (102892)

Have fun creating,

Strength & Hope

Stampin' Up! is donating $2 to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation for every Strength & Hope stamp set sold until August 31st.  The butterfly is gorgeous stamped and heat embossed with Melon Mambo embossing powder, and then cut out and placed over another butterfly stamped in Sahara Sand.  The butterfly looks like it is about to take flight.

The technique I used is emboss resist.  I heat embossed the Very Vanilla card stock with White Embossing Powder and then sponged Sahara Sand ink over the embossed image.  The ink doesn't color the embossed sections, so the impression stands out.  Be sure to wipe the embossing with a tissue to remove any wet ink remaining.  You can purchase the stamp set and other supplies to make this card by clicking HERE.

Stamps:  Strength & Hope (118100 [W]; 123660 [C])
Paper:  Bashful Blue, Sahara Sand, Pink Pirouette, Melon Mambo, Very Vanilla
Ink:  Sahara Sand, Versamark
Accessories:  Bashful Blue 3/8" Taffeta Ribbon, Basic Rhinestones (119246), White Embossing Powder (109132),  Melon Mambo Embossing Powder (123223), Dimensionals (104430)
Tools:  Big Shot, Elegant Lines Embossing Folder (119277), Heat Tool, 1-1/4" Square Punch (119865), Scallop Square Punch (119884), Sponge Daubers (102892)

Three Daisies in a Row

Hello, and welcome to my new blog!  As a Stampin' Up! demonstrator, I had the opportunity to go to the Stampin' Up! convention in Salt Lake City in July.  It is a 4 day event full of energy with lots of great classes, make-and-takes and oodles of ideas!  Then of course there are all the SWAPS!  I joined in a dinner swap at the Hilton the night before convention.  The theme was "any holiday except Christmas".  There are so many holidays that no one has ever heard of!  I chose Daisy Day, celebrated on January 28th.

Card Stock:  Pool Party, Crumb Cake, Calypso Coral, Pear Pizzazz, Daffodil Delight, Whisper White
Accessories:  Basic Rhinestones (119246), Stampin' Dimensionals (104430)
Tools:  Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder (117335), Flower Daisies #2 Bigz Die (114520), 1-1/4" Square Punch (119865) , Scallop Square Punch (119884), Blossom Petals Builder Punch (121808), 1/2" Circle Punch (119869), Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack - small flower (118309),

To make the flower pots, I cut a 1" strip of Calypso Coral card stock and then punched rectangles with the 1-1/4" square punch.  Then I cut one scallop deep with the Square Scallop Punch along another strip of card stock about 1/2" wide.  I punched the leaves out of the Blossom Petals punch and glued everything together using Tombo Multipurpose Liquid Glue (110755).

If you would like to purchase any of these or other Stampin' Up! merchandise, please Shop Here.  I would be pleased be your demonstrator.

Thanks for stopping by.

Have fun creating!
