This week the Paper Players has a sketch challenge going on. I decided to ink up my stamps and play along. Here is what I started with:
I wanted to make a masculine card for a fall birthday. I am not as fond of fall colors as I am of spring and summer, in fashion or in general, but changing up your normal favorites gives a little spice to life. You may even end up making a new favorite!
Featured here are the new Woodgrain Embossing Folder and Window Frames Collection Framelits Dies available in the Holiday Mini Catalog. Also available is a nifty guide for poking an even outline of holes around each size of the collection. My owl is sporting a tailored vest with silver "buttons". Just perfect for my brother the professor.
Stamps: French Foliage (120845[W]; 121166[C]), Teeny Tiny Wishes (115370[W]; 127802[C])
Ink: Cajun Craze, More Mustard, Old Olive, Crumb Cake
Paper: Early Espresso, Crumb Cake, More Mustard, Old Olive, Very Vanilla, Basic Black
Accessories: Mini Brads (122941), Dimensionals (104430), staple
Tools: Woodgrain Embossing Folder (127821), Window Frames Collection Framelits Dies (129021), Paper Piercing Tool (126189), Paper Piercing Pack (127857), Owl Builder Punch (118074)

Mixed Bunch of Daisies
Without meaning to I basically took August off of blogging. That doesn't mean I have not been a busy bee doing all sorts of other projects. I just finished creating a set of 4 wedding banners for a friend's daughter who is getting married early Sept., and also put on a huge, very fun Christmas In August workshop for my local friends. I've been promised professional pictures of the wedding banners, so I will post those when I get them. Can't wait!
It's back to school time for the kids and back to my computer now and then for a new post. I made this card a few weeks back, but for those of us who hate to say goodbye to Summer, here it is:
I saw this idea for the flowerpot somewhere on the world wide web, but can't remember where...someone is smart and used the Labels Framelits (125598) and cut the top and bottom off. Love it! Then I used the Blossom Punch (125603) to punch out the flowers; two Whisper White flowers for each, then cut slits in the petals at each ridge to make it more frilly. You only need to do the top flower, as the one under doesn't really show. The leaves are punched from the Blossom Petals Builder Punch, and the flower center scallop is the new 1-1/4" Scallop Circle Punch shown in the Holiday Mini Catalog.
Stamps: Mixed Bunch (125535[W]; 125537[C]), Kindness Matters (122900[W]; 122902[C])
Ink: Daffodil Delight, Pool Party
Paper: Naturals White, Whisper White, Sahara Sand, Lucky Limeade, Pool Party
Accessories: Linen Thread (104199), Dimensionals (104430)
Tool: Square Lattice Embossing Folder (119976), Labels Framelits (125598), Blossom Punch (125603), 1" Circle Punch (119868), 1-1/4" Scallop Circle Punch (127811), Blossom Petals Builder Punch (121808), Word Window Punch (119857)

Snowflake Soiree Wishes
Another sneak peek from the Stampin' Up! Holiday Mini Catalog for the Mojo Monday
Sketch Challenge.
I just LOVE snowflakes! Maybe because where I grew up there was snow every year, but where I live now - not so much as a flake. Whatever the reason, I had to include this new set of snowflakes for my Christmas collection. The DSP (designer series paper) is pretty great too. This paper is in the big catalog. It coordinates with Cherry Cobbler and Gumball Green.
Stamps: Snowflake Soiree (127922[W]; 127925[C] Holiday Mini), Joyous Celebrations (128066[W]; 128069[C] Holiday Mini)
Ink: Cherry Cobbler, Gumball Green
Paper: Gumball Green, Cherry Cobbler, Very Vanilla, DSP-Be of Good Cheer (126896)
Accessories: Vintage Faceted Designer Buttons (127555), Cherry Cobbler Baker's Twine (123125), Basic Rhinestones (119246), Dimensionals (104430)
Tools: Scallop Circles Die #2, 3" Circle Die (122125), 1-1/4" Circle Punch (119861), 1-3/8" Circle Punch (119860)

Watercolor Winter Greetings
Ready for a sneak peak from the Stampin' Up! Holiday mini catalog? There are so many new stamps, accessories and tools, to get your creative juices flowing! Many items are geared towards Fall, Halloween and of course Christmas. I am thinking ahead to the Christmas season, so when I saw this two-step stamp set, I immediately had gold embossing come to mind. The Stamp-a-ma-jig is the best for getting the outline stamps on straight. Each poinsettia is cut out and then popped up with a Dimensional. Tiny pearls adorn the center of each flower.
This card is all wrapped up for someone special with its Cherry Cobbler bow. I just love Cherry Cobbler, Always Artichoke and Crumb Cake together. The greeting is from More Merry Messages, and tiny pine cone finishes it off in style.
Stamps: Watercolor Winter (129724[W]; 129727[C]), More Merry Messages (126400[W]; 126402[C])
Ink: Cherry Cobbler, Always Artichoke, Soft Suede, Crumb Cake, VersaMark
Paper: Cherry Cobbler, Always Artichoke, Crumb Cake, Very Vanilla
Accessories: Gold Embossing Powder (109129), Heat Tool (129053), Cherry Cobbler 1/2" Seam Binding Ribbon (120992), Pearls (119247), Dimensionals (104430).

Vintage Postage Due
My daughter says this card looks like summer. The color combination, the reminder of travels, it all brings summer days to mind.
This Postage Due stamp set and designer paper are included in the Fan Fair Product Suite in the 2012-13 Stampin' Up! Catalog. It shows an array of coordinating items for scrap booking, card making or other projects. Great for those who need a little help putting items and colors together. It's right there listed for you on p. 107.
To get the ink coverage on the Very Vanilla card stock, I used a brayer inked with Crumb Cake. After trial and error (I am just learning the brayer technique), I ended up with just a touch of the Riding Hood Red on the edges. I sponged the flower with Island Indigo ink and daubed the edges of the stamps with Crumb Cake.
Stamps: Postage Due (126395[W]; 126397[C])
Ink: Stazon Black Ink, Riding Hood Red, Island Indigo, More Mustard, Crumb Cake
Paper: Riding Hood Red, Island Indigo, Very Vanilla, Fan Fair DSP
Accessories: Linen Thread (104199), Dimensionals (104430)
Tools: Postage Stamp Punch (122344), Brayer (102395), Stamping Sponge (101610)

A Jolly Bingo Christmas
Christmas in July! "Oh, no!" you say, because you don't want to even think about Christmas. You don't want to hear Christmas music, or see Christmas stuff in the stores. I'm with you there, but really, July/August is the perfect time to start planning for the big event. I am the type of person that can think of a brilliant idea - for decoration, for gift giving - only too late to do it up right. If you are like me, now is the time to start planning, so that you do have time to add your handmade touch. The Stampin' Up! Holiday mini catalog will begin on August 1st this year (a month early) with fresh and fabulous ideas for fall all through Christmas and beyond.
The big Catalog also has some great stamp sets and accessories to choose from such as this Jolly Bingo Bits set (24 pieces!) that has a fun, playful feel to it.
This card was quite simple to make, and could easily be mass produced. Because each small image is punched out, it would be a great one for kids to make. Each circle is adhered with a dimensional which makes the card front pop.
Stamps: Jolly Bingo Bits (120857 [W]; 121187), More Merry Messages (126400 [W]; 126402 [C])
Ink: Real Red, Garden Green, Pretty In Pink
Paper: Whisper White, Real Red
Accessories: Real Red 1/8" Taffeta Ribbon (119251), Dimensionals (104430)
Tools: 1" Circle Punch (119868)
